Brass Instructor

T. André Feagin

Dr. T. André Feagin currently serves as band director at Central Washington University. Feagin holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Wind Conducting from the University of Arizona. He previously held positions at Colorado State University, Coastal Carolina University and the University of Texas at El Paso. Dr. Feagin’s experience in DCI expands two decades. Previous appointments include serving as brass caption head of the Santa Clara Vanguard and The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps. He has served on the brass staff of the Boston Crusaders, Carolina Crown, and is the former executive director and brass caption head of the 2007 DCI Division III World Champion Memphis Sound Drum and Bugle Corps. As a performing member, he served four-years as conductor of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. He was the recipient of the DCI Jim Jones Leadership Award in 2000 and the DCI Division III Director of the Year Award in 2007. He continues his involvement in the marching arts serving as a clinician, consultant, adjudicator, music arranger, visual designer, and program coordinator for some of the nation’s finest high school and university band programs.

  • Do I need any equipment?

    No, members enrolled in the conductor course do not need access to an instrument or piece of equipment.

  • Can I sign up for more than one section?

    Yes! Check out our multi-section bundles by clicking "register" at the top of the page! If there is not a bundle for your desired courses (i.e. trumpet and conductor) please email info@bostoncrusaders.org to be manually enrolled.

  • Is this how I audition for the Boston Crusaders?

    Yes, membership candidacy will be based off Backstage assessments and evaluations. We have positions available in all sections.

  • Do I need to sign-up for Backstage to audition? Do I have to audition?

    Yes, you must sign up for Backstage if you wish to audition for the Boston Crusaders. Audition requirements will be made available within the Backstage program. No, signing up for Backstage does not mean you have to audition. Backstage is a valuable tool to help you refine your skills, whether or not you are pursing a position with the Boston Crusaders.

  • Is there an age limit?

    No! Backstage is open to all regardless of age. If you are an educator, please stay tuned for future programs tailored to assist your classroom and students.

  • Is there a deadline to sign-up?

    No, but it is recommended to sign up early for maximum value. Although tools are available all year long, membership positions will be awarded based on the on-going evaluations and assessment that begin in October.

  • Is my purchase refundable?
